Did you hear the train?

Northern Ohio caught some wind for the last couple days. It’s was consistent blowing for 18 hours with regular gusts of 50+ mph (80kmh). Wooster, a nearby town, reported an isolated F2 tornado. Being someone who has heard it, I feel a kinship with the wide-eyed interviewed people that say “….and it sounded like a freight train.” Any other Pixies who have “heard the train”?

Yes, back in 69 when I was only 6..not only did I hear it...I saw it coming....I was terrified. And still am..as soon as the wind comes up I am hiding. Today we had wind gusts up to 80km an hour...I've been in my basement all day. :eek:

A train? Not yet...........but I haven't discounted it! The wind hasn't subsided a bit since dawn.....but instead, picked up speed!

Well from PF in Ohio, to Lixy in PA, to me here in RI......

We've had high winds all day and they are getting stronger!! They have restricted traffic on the Jamestown & Newport bridges, no buses, no empty trucks. If the wind stays above 50 mph they will close the Newport bridge. The National Guard is at both ends ready to block it off.

I put the spotlight on in the back of the house just a few minutes ago and there are branches of all sizes strewn everywhere. What a mess!

I've never heard 'the train', (knock-on-wood) and I hope I never do.

Ok......that's it! How long will this last PF? We are at 50+ mph winds.......and trees and power lines and even a few buildings under construction.....are being blown down!

Keep your fingers crossed for our carport on the barn........and that big maple aside (nearly touching) our house.

The good news......all the wet leaves smothering our lawn.....have blown into oblivion! Looks like I raked the entire yard (an acre)! You'll never know how cool this is unless you like a ton (ok....maybe just 500lbs) of leaves to rake!

For real Lixy… we had it blowing steady for about 18 hours. (about 18:00 Wed. – noon today) Found it odd myself. This has to be one of the longest duration I can recall for sustained, heavy winds. Normally a couple hours at the most. Even our tornados come, do their shit, and are done! The roofers are going to love it.;)

We had wicked thunder and lightning last night before the cold front kicked in. Winds were 90 km/hr and the Hamilton Sky Bridge was closed for several hours during rush hour. These winds aren't fazing me ~ growing up next to the North Atlantic does that, I guess.

We're working on our third day of wind, but it's not nearly as strong as Wednesday. Apparently it's not the same as Lixy's wind, though--I still have my leaves, or at least those of my neighbor!

OMG! This has gotta stop soon! For some reason (maybe cause I have long hair), wind makes me angry after nearly 48 hours of the stuff!

But.......the good news? I am now the proud owner of two life vests (from my neighbor's pontoon boat). But we have no boat...............yet! I'm waiting for the pontoon boat to come off the blocks any moment! Hey! Possession is 9/10's of the law.......so whatever blows into my yard, and stays the duration, is mine! LOL.....jk!

At times, the wind is blowing so hard that you can lean back into it and not fall down! Of course, you have to listen to when it is letting up......or you'll fall down and get your ass all wet (the ground still being wet from the rains the other day).......which almost happened to me but......as an old coot....my reflexes are still quite quick! LMFAO!
