View Full Version : Separation anxeity...
My, my, my...This seems to be my week for begging for help, here. Believe it or not, I do have a good head on some fairly decent shoulders. Boobs aren't bad, either. In a nutshell...Husband goes on trip. Wife breathes sigh of relief. Husband cuts trip short to get back to wife. Wife becomes very angry and frustrated every time he does this. He knows this, but hates to be away from her. He did it again, tonight. He'll be home in 2 hours. You've guessed who the players are. Now, what can I do, that doesn't involve physical injury to said husband. He literally can go through anxiety attacks sometimes. I'd really like some space. (Been going on for 17 years.) Thank you again, pixie's folk, for your forebearance.

Mae Hon, we all need space for ourselves. Have you by chance talked about the basis for his anxiety? Maybe even a few chats with a therapist would be of service. I know too that the suggestion of counciling may bring on further anxious moments but there's got to be some reason he feels so insecure and it'll be in both your interest to find out what's up with it. I wish you the best with this and you needn't apologise for asking questions or seeking advice here. That's what it's all about.

I agree with BigBear ~ it sounds like your hubby needs counselling. Also, perhaps you can go on a trip and make sure you get your time alone!
Good luck, I love my space and can definitely empathize with you!
I'm with Steph ... arrange to go on your own trip .... leave him with the responsibilities of taking care of home and kids (if you got em) and spend a week away ... And yea, I empathize ... I always need a lot of alone time ... course I don't have the hubby messing up my alone time, so it's easy for me ... hope you find a workable solution!

Any chance he can't stay away because he's afraid that you're doing things behind his back? Had to ask you know.....
Night...No, don't do things behind his back. I'm pretty much a one man woman. He's pretty much a one woman man. I'm on marriage #2 and he's on marriage #5. We're doing okay, I guess. No suspicious stuff or anything like that.

I too suffer from separation anxiety, from our Steph.:(
I live in dread that her legs will never separate and that her lips will never stop separating.

Maybe the pretty much phrase is the problem?
Also, if he's on his fifth marriage, there's probably a pattern!
If I sat down and talked to my S/O about needing time on my own, I think he'd respect it. I would explode without time alone.
Oh yeah, shaddup PF!

WEll I gotta say, most of the girls I know would be delighted to have there SO cut a trip short because they missed them, I guess your right that you need your own time, but after five marriages I Guess he's most likely over compensating for something that went wrong in a previous one
also the Pretty much bothers me, it sounds like your not all that sure about that and if your not sure how can you expect him to be sure in trusting you?
I don't know I suppose I"m a rather clingy guy myself and I can't say I blame the guy for being hurt at you being pissed off at him coming home early because he misses you
again you do need your distance I'm sure, sounds like counseling is in order here for both of you , if he feels that much pain about you being away from him then sounds like the whole thing needs work
Probably should have said that we're definitely with each other and there's no temptation from the outside. These past two days, he's taken care of all of the dogs and let me sleep in. That was amazing! It helped an awful lot. And, he said, "Babe, I knew you need your rest." He knew. We've been able to talk a little bit. And, unbeknownst to me...he's been mapping out a trip to Colorado for a "getaway" for both of us. I'm very hopeful. Counseling may be a possibility. I've got to figure out how to approach the subject. Thank you for the advice and suggestions.
