Just a little curiosity question for my pixies friends :)

My husband and I started dating in high school and got married a year out. Neither of us has ever had sex with another person (though I won't say that we waited until we were married ;) ).

What do you think when you hear of/meet someone who's only been with one other person? Do you feel like they must be missing out on something? Does someone who's had more sexual partners carry more weight when it comes to sexual conversation? (that question didn't quite come out right, but I hope you know what I mean).

I get the "don't you ever wonder?" question a lot, lol. Of course I wonder, and so does he. I guess this board gives me a bit of a harmless outlet, so to speak, to wonder.

Anyway, any and all comments welcome and appreciated :)

naughtyangel~ I have had relatively few partners and yes I wonder too, LOTS. I told my husband recently that I really felt like I should have at least 15 more lovers in my lifetime:D

I do not think the # of partners makes you any more knowledgable than the next lady. In fact, having a serious longterm, intimate sexual relationship with one person that evolves over time may be more crucial to defining expertise:p

Not speaking as a representative of males in general, I lived 9 of my 13 "adult years" (since turning 17) with only one person, and I can tell you that I learned more about sex, sexuality and sensuality with that one person than all of my male friends and their shorter term flings and girlfriends (and wives, in two cases). To be fair, every pairing of two people has at least a slightly different end result in the bedroom (or the couch, or the veranda, or the sink...), but you should have no worries about having "missed" something. The relationship that flourishes when you spend many years with one person makes the intimacy you share far better than whatever else lies out there, believe me.

there's a big difference between sex and intimacy...

I agree with bang_r that it doesn't matter the # of partners, it's all in how you use the experience....wondering is a perfectly normal thing - otherwise, would any of us be here?

if you're happy, isn't that truly all that matters?

The only one to whom that matters is the one asking such a question. True having lots of experience is a bonus but to know the loving embrace of a special one is perhaps more important. For some sex is a physical interlude--but for others it is an expression of love. Only in ones heart can this one be answered
