My boyfriend and I have always been kind of innocent till recently, just getting more into sex and all. We want to get some toys, I desperately want a dildo. lol, ive never used one! And i am so straight forward talking about sex on here and everything but i am scared shitless to go buy one in public!
What do you all suggest?! :(

Buy the way you talk, online.

ONLINE is the way to go!

Or just type in 'sex toys' in Google. It's fun looking around, too. The sites are very discreet so you don't have to worry about nosy neighbours and mailmen :)

Glenna,

You need not be scared about using your credit card for online purchases. It is quite safe; indeed it is safer than handing your credit card to a waiter at a restaurant.

I just realized what a stupid name that is! Is there a site called "Children's Sex Toys"?

I need a nap!

I never owned one in my life either until recently, I have always been pretty low key too but now I couldn't live without it...It makes sex so much better as long as the person you are doing it with knows what they are doing with it for you. :)

Glenna..

Shop online.. with him... have fun... anticipate the purchase arriving... and go wild :)

PS.. don't limit yourself to just a dildo... believe me... the toys out there are unlimited

Wildeye lol you didn't happen to be in Anne Summers did you ? Lou n I had a great chat with an assistant in there once she was telling us that until she worked there she knew nothing about vibes but to get to know them better she had been trying a few out :D

Glenna if you're not upto buying one face to face then go for online but......Try to get brave enough cos it's very worth while being able to see and touch before you buy ! Pictures and descriptions really don't do toys justice............and you'll usually find the assistants in adults shops are VERY helpful and never make you feel embarassed.

It's easy. Go round the shop with your boyfriend and decide which one you fancy. Then leave and let him do the buying.

The adult shop assistants are excellent....i have not had one yet that has made me feel embarrassed at my purchases...and believe me i've been to many a store *LOL*

I have shopped online for toys too....but have as yet not been entirely satisfied with buying toys that way....i've found that the descriptions and pictures can be somewhat decieving...

I'd much rather look and handle the toy before purchase...then i know exactly what i'm paying for

Buy them off the internet, that is where we usually buy ours from.
luvtoys.com
or other sites, hope this helps

I've worked the counter in an adult shop and believe me........we aren't there to embarrass you. I was willing to help with any question (no matter if you thought it embarrassing or stupid). No one will make you feel more at ease and dealing one on one instead of online is so much better as you CAN actually ask about something before you buy it. It's not like you are going into clothing store to buy a vibrator............the store is specifically for sex and so whoever is there is there for the same reason. Nothing to be embarrassed about......nothing at all!

LMAO@Steph. THe scary part is I understand the thinking. Do it all the time. LOL

I was happy to see another school of thought come in with Wildeye, FussyPucker, Ericthered, Sharniqua. Even I understand the hesitation to walk through the door the first time. What the others said about the people there being helpful as well as “wanting” you to be comfortable is true. That’s their job and they are both good at it and informative.

I think you’ll be surprised at the similar attitude and honest openness between Pixies and the stores. All the snickering is in the outside world, just like here. That goes for both the hard core “sex shops” as well as the non-neon-light upscale “lovers & lingerie store”. The shyness has created a market that lets them sell you the same product at higher prices. lol

Just another thought about anonymity. NOTHING is more private and with less records and trails than CASH in FIST.;)

I'll be happy to take you shopping anytime. :lust:

I've bought all my sex toys in person at a sex shop, no problems at all. I think the big advantage is being able to see exactly what you're getting, and being able to touch and make sure the texture's right. Believe it or not, it can make a big difference! Try and avoid rubber if you can - it smells, can be hard to clean and doesn't last very long in my experience. Aim for Latex or Silicone.... wonderful! :)

In terms of shop assistants, well maybe I'm going to the wrong shops but my experiences here in melbourne haven't been particularly wonderful. Not bad, but not something to write home about. My worst experience was an mid to late 50s woman who smoked the whole time and wasn't very knowledgeable about the products.
In an adult shop, it couldn't been a lot worse I tend to think!

Just have a good idea what you want - why stick with a dildo? Get a VIBE!!! Or a bullet! And make sure what you're getting is what it says on the box.

Also, have a budget and don't go over it. You don't want to blow your whole life savings on sex toys!! ;)
Well, you'll WANT to.... but that's another matter lol.

Most of all, have fun and TELL US WHAT YOU BOUGHT AND WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF IT!!!! :)

If you see a toy on line that interests you, you might check Clitical.com to see if they have a review of it. The reviews are written by people like us (in fact, I've written some for them myself) and not people who work for any company that sells them. In other words, the reviews are their honest opinions of the toys and not some advertiser's word.

http://clitical.com/

Just click on "Product reviews" in the left-hand column on that page.

You might also look to see if you see the toy at goodvibes.com; they have a great ratings system in which loudness and strength of the vibrations, for example, of vibrating toys, including dildos, are listed.

http://goodvibes.com/cgi-bin/sgdynamo.exe?CODIV=0102&UID=2003060907103075&HTNAME=store/index.htm

Their prices aren't bad either. However, it definitely pays to shop around. Some sites' prices are slightly cheaper overall, but you still may find that the toy you want is cheaper somewhere else where the prices on average are usually higher. It's amazing just how much the price of the same toy can vary.

I also like Libida.com:

http://www.libida.com/content/shop/toys/home.php?id=1321488423

They have a good return policy, as does Good.Vibes.com. I'd stay away from ElectricLover.com toys; their return policy is for the birds.

Adam and Eve.com (adamandeve.com) and Xandria.com are good, but they are on the pricey side; still, it would be wise to check their price for a particular toy to see how it compares with other places.

Another good site for a huge selection and good prices is Private Entertainment.com.

http://sextoys.pexxx.com/cgi-bin/product.cgi?af=2737&type=toys&text=9013631N&criteria=ecode&site=210

If you have any questions or want more information, please feel free to ask here or PM me. Have fun!:)

I usually buy on line too, can I recommend The Rabbit, there are many versions, but woweeeeee, I have vibrators and the rabbit is damned amazing. I got mine from the Ann summers web site, it was here within two days. Some times though it is nice to go browsing in the shop, the lingerie is phenominal, from extremely erotic to positively beautiful, a little pricey I have to admit, but beats Marks & Spencer....lol
I agree with the others here, the assistants are wonderful and do not make you feel embarrassed at all. I am on the mature side and was very dubious at first, thinking they might wonder what an old bird like me was doing there, let me tell you that they were wonderful, I had em laughing in the isles at my curiosity at all the weird and wonderful gear in there. Lol. I got em telling me what stuff was for, because my imagination didn't take me that far. I am far wiser now though!!!
Be brave...do it....you won't regret it for a second, you will wonder why you ever hesitated...I promise you.
Good luck and enjoy
