Since tomorrow is Memorial Day in the US it got me thinking about patriotic music. I know that for me God Bless America played at any event involving kids is a sure fire guaranteed hard to swallow lump in my throat!

For all of you Pixies around the world...what song makes you feel most patriotic about your homeland and who sings your fave version?

"I'm Proud to Be an American" by Lee Greenwood has a tendency to tear me up a little... always did. Even before Sept. 11th....

I love almost any of the John Philip Sousa marches, and, The Star Spangled Banner (done without a lot of the customizing a lot of singers seem to like to do to it).

'Jerusalem' does it for me. Seems like I can't get away from my religious schooling no matter how hard I try!

I'd have to say "American Child" by Phil Vassar

and "Ragged Old Flag" by Johnny Cash they may not be the best but I'm always on the verge of blubberin when I hear them

for the holiday at hand i recomend :

ballad of the green beret.

riding with private malone.

the call - an honor to serve.

for the most patriatic song, of course the national anthem!

I've also always been partial to "Rule Britannia!" - my old Latin teacher did a fantastic rendition of i.

I think I just like it for the high notes....not that I can reach them. But that doesn't stop my damn well trying! :D
