I just got back froom these most wonderful back-packing trip. I love packing!! Love being out doors, hiking miles and miles, and ending up in the far reaches of the world, were few people ever go...I always come back feeling completely exhausted....and completely refreshed at the same time...Are any of you back-packers?

I miss hiking! When I lived in a national park, we'd go hiking all the time. Being so far away from civilization was awesome!

Oh My Yes,, I did, has been years.
Lived in Mammoth Lks Cal. for years and ever year I'd be gone 4 to 6 weeks, have done most of the John Muir Trail, climbed several 14000 foot peaks.
The longest ever was 7 weeks, had 3 food drops so I did not have to come back to the crazy world for food..
This was some of the best days of my life, truely awsome...

It's nice to spend some time outdoors, but I'm not up for camping and backpacking. My favorite outdoor activity is sitting down by the lake at the student union, late at night listening to a band as the warm breeze blows.

I'll join Lilith at the mall :)

I love the outdoors. I have done some minor backpacking trips. I would love to do more and take my kayak with me. That way I can kayak a few days, hike a few more, then kayak some more. I CAN'T WAIT!! hehe

We used to hike the Appalachian Trail round here. It was tough getting up to the top as it was nearly a vertical climb and we'd pack out with 50lbs. on my back and 75-100lbs. on hubbies. But it was worth it when we got up there. The view is amazing! When we started scuba diving together (I got certified well after hubby did) we sorta put the hiking on the back burner. But I know the feeling you speak of Valerieks626! It's very exhilerating!

I love spending time in the woods, but I've never gone backpacking. My favorite pastime when I vacationed in Northern Wisconsin was to swim or row to one of the larger isolated, wooded islands on the lake and spend the day there.

Well, not exactly the same, but love getting together with friends and loading the pack horses up and spending weeks at a time out on the trail. Has been way too many years since I have done so, but love the whole out door , camping, hiking, trail ride :) One reason I live in the middle of nowhere :D.

I'm not much of a backpacker/hiker. I love camping and being out doors but BP/H has just never been my cup of tea. Sure I love seeing the sites on a trail and I can do it (I am fairly fit) but I'm just a big guy and it takes alot to move me around. :)
