For me, I'd have to say my biggest pet peeve is poor spelling and grammar skills found on the net. I know I'm not the best when it comes to spelling and grammar, but I do try. I did pretty well in my English classes growing up. ;) And I actually enjoyed them!

It amazes me at how many people who visit literature sites (I'm not nitpicking at anyone here) do not know basic English skills. Sure, not everyone here is an "author", but I'm sure many of the bulletin board visitors are the site's authors as well. And, it's not like it's hard to run a post through a spell checker before hitting the "send" button. ;)

people driving cars while on cell phones. (no offense to any one here) but I want to get a bumper sticker that says " If I shove that cell phone up your ass...would you be able to drive any better?"

Surely no one here does that, now do you?

I'm reminded, cumslut, of the exchanges quoted in Dave Barry in Cyberspace. One of his "interviewees" creates an AOL room called "Can Actually Spell" :)

It's a little dated now, but still a bit of fun to read.

Oh, and what irritates me....people that come beggin for computer help after I've been doin that for 8 hours or more all day. :P

Well both CumSlut and txgrneyes have a good beef there, some newspaper articles here sound like a 3rd grader wrote them and that damn cell phone would look good up their ass, to add to that is the driver who has no damn clue what a turn signal is and the guy who tail gates...
Oh Ya and the FOOL that passes over a double yellow line.

Ok I'll stop now.............................;-)

If we all had Bond type weapons in our cars, the highway fatality rate would be much higher, but the roads would wind up being a lot more empty.

Hmm. That would have worked even better to fix up the 290 at Hillside. Wonder if the new gov' would go for it.

Those people who tend to drive very slow in the Fast Lane and then get pissed at you for riding their Bumper. (all they got to do is move to the right lane Daaaaaaa) ;)

Oh my gosh, poor spelling and grammar issues have always been one of my biggest irks. Glad I'm not the only one.

I also get pissed off by these certain girls in our place that leave their long black hair all over in the shower and sinks and cannot seem to understand that it's just common courtesy to leave a shared bathroom in a somewhat usable state for others after you leave it. These girls don't even flush the toilet half of the time, and I for one don't enjoy seeing what others leave behind. UGH!!

As a gotta-get-to-school pedestrian, I do a lot of crossing the street. Since I live right on a busy street in town, I often have to just make my way out into traffic if I ever want to get across. However, I cannot stand it when you are totally clear of traffic from one way, and you start walking out, while in the mean time there's a guy coming from the other way that is obviously far enough away for you to fully cross the street, yet they slow down or actually stop for you when you could have actually made it across without that, no problem. Sometimes you'll get an angry look or honk for that, but their reaction was totally unnecessary.

Aw, no games of Smack a Pedestrian? I seem to remember having to do a lot of that crossing the Purdue campus waaaaaaay back when. Except for the pedestrians it's more like Frogger. These days I'm usually the one in the car.

I promise not to honk at ya BCG unless I'm waving. ;)

I share this annoyance with you! It drives me crazy! I ALWAYS get over if someone else wants to drive faster than me. I don't care. It does not offend me on some deep level that there are people who need or want to be driving faster than I am at that moment. But some people seem to feel as though you are violating them in some way if you pass them or want them to get over. Sorry...I'm ranting because I just got home from my 45 min drive home and had this the whole way. I'd love to have a PA system on my car. :D

I count a lot of the answers already posted as just SOME of the things that piss me off....... but the BIGGIE is, when I'm out on my bike, people sittign in side-turns who look RIGHT IN YOUR EYES... then pull out right in front of me!!!

Now, I ride like they deifinitely ARE gonna do it, but it still pisses me RIGHT off!! I mean, two bright 75 watt headlights shinin' right at them, and they still can't see me?!?!

(Wouldn't be the first time I've pulled alongside and kicked their door!!) My bad!

Sorry, bit of a rant there..... I'll just shut up & go to work now (in my car!! :))

LMFAO! I've always said that those who insist on driving with a cell to their ear should be made to have license plates with their cell number on it! This way, I could call them (pulling over first, of course....lol!) and give them the shit they deserve!

But my biggest peeve is driving down the road and seeing children bouncing all over the back seat of the car or truck, not seated and not wearing saftey belts! I have one friend at work that, upon hearing this peeve I have said, "Oh, my son just hates wearing those belts and he whines and cries whenever I put one on", to which I replied, "Do you set an example for him"? She said she didn't wear them either. I told her that it might help to set the good example and that even if she didn't, if they were in an accident, at least he would survive to whine again another day! I think I overstepped on that one, but I was just being honest!

You picked a good one. Poeple have no respect for bikes on the road what so ever. The area around here is sort of a retirment area so you have to watch out for all of the little old men/women.Just last week I was riding in the left lane and a lady pulled out from a parking lot, crossed the right lane and almost clipped me. If there had not of been a turn lane there I would have had no place to run. Then when we get to the next red light she gives me a "Go To Hell" look! I guess because I was using her highway!

I see your point but how about when someone is riding your bumper so closely that you can't actually move out of their bloody way, or when you can't move over because the lane next to you is full of people bumper riding too so there's no where to move to? And hell you're doing 20 miles an hour over the speed limit anyway, so you aren't exactly hanging about!

Oh yeah, and people who ride other people's bumpers are the kind of people who don't think that the person in front of them may have recently had a very fucking nasty accident where they were rear ended by a vehicle three times their size and were lucky to get out in one piece.

Yes, we people are on the road you know (and you have no clue what may have recently happened to them) so if you're going to attempt anal sex with us, please get out of the car first!

Hubby has a motto........Hell with braking and speeding up again.......just slam on the brakes and sit there for a moment! He's a pretty big guy and can get away with this manuever, while people like me have to take the ass rimming and just yell explitives inside my car....wishing the culprit could hear me! Should anyone hubby's done this to, attempt to get out of his/her vehicle....he get's out of ours and the look on their face is worth a million bucks!

I do 50+ miles a day on the LA freeways...I'm rarely the slowest car on the road, but everyday, there's some asshole who comes up behind me, flashing their lights, when there is a car a few lengths ahead of me. Someday, I'll figure out a way to change the laws of physics and drive right through the car ahead of me.

If you ever find a car ahead of you going slower than you'd like them too, it's your choice to politely go around them, or calmly deal with it by adjusting your speed to the traffic.

Cell phones, with a handsfree, can be ok, but reading the newspaper? putting your makeup on? anal sex? ok, maybe anal sex...

Eliza

It's not the people who can't get over...(ex. the car in front of me who is just another car in a long line of frustrated people with more people beside them) It's the people who won't get over. (ex. The guy all the way in the front of the line with 15 million cars behind him that has situated himself right next to another car that prevents passing on on that side.) That is what annoys me. I am not an irate driver/speed demon hellbent on riding peoples asses because I feel I need to be ahead of everyone else. That annoys me too. I'm simply saying that the left lane is the passing lane. And it should be used as such when possible. That's all. I did not mean to offend.
Eliza

Sharni

No offence taken

I see no problem with people being in the passing lane...provided they are doing the posted speed limit

If someone still wants to pass them...then they need to take a bit of a look at their speedo...and learn that it's better to arrive late than DEAD on time

I agree with everyone's beef so far. I used to be an editor, so, unfortunately, spelling and grammar errors just glare at me every time I read something containing them. Sometimes I wish they wouldn't bother me so much since it's really the content of the material that counts. Also, I had a bumper sticker on one car that said "Visualize using turn signals."

I get my dander up also over people who spout racist/prejudiced comments or stereotypes, ESPECIALLY negative ones. (I also had a bumper sticker on my car that said "Better a bleeding heart than none at all.") :D

You're definitely on target here. Unfortuately, these are often the people who get put in positions of power, because of their big mouths. A psychologist would say that they are just acting out on their insecurities and anxieties.

If they are cute, and female, I just try to find something big to put in their mouth :)
