Have any of you ever tried a position that felt sublime only to find it injurious?

I know I love to do a version of doggy with my ass hanging precariously off the bed however I usually end up so sore I can hardly sit from his hip bones and my ass bones(not the technical term :p) colliding.:o

My knees are in horrid shape as it is. But that never seems to stop me if I want to drop onto the floor and do some work on my knees, I do it. Usually regret it in the morning, but the moment voids all pain.

A side note: Any of you ever notice that somethings don't hurt all that much when you are in the moment, but after you get off the pain comes flooding back?
