When my 5 year old boy comes up to me and begins to tell me that Barbie is ok...but Ken is just sexy.......
I don't think I said anything for 4 hours.

I dont know what shocked me more, him using the word "Sexy" a word I had never heard him use, or that Barbie was just "OK"...

I hear ya! Ken is sexy coming out of a five-year-old's mouth is jarring enough, let alone that it's the same sex. I know you were shocked but if I were you, I'd ask him some questions about it when the time is right. 'What do you mean by sexy?' He might even just have the word sexy confused with something else.
Oh not to worry STO....he probably heard someone say it! Could be one of his little female friends said it! Remember kids say the darndest things...;)
Have to run to the bathroom now LMAO

STO, Steph may be right. I was talking to my five-year old yesterday, and he ended the conversation with, "That sucks." When I told him we don't really say that, his response was, "Why? What does it mean?" He obviously had heard it somewhere and wanted to sound cool by repeating it. Could be something similar in your case.

Dang that's almost as bad as my baby brother asking my Mom if she liked da fruck (umm did I mention Mom had 6 boys in a few days less than 7 yrs?) ...... it took her a little while to realise he was asking if she liked to drive Dad's truck. LOL
I'm sure the ladies are right about the possible misuse of the word Hon.... I know how it feels to wonder where they get this stuff.
It reminds me of being in a restraunt when my boy was about two and a half.
He told the waitress that he didn't want a 'poon...he wanted a fuck! Still shake my head over that one :)

OMG how could Ken be sexy when he has no genitalia?!?

OMG! This is too cute for words!
I'm wondering what your son would think of Stretch Armstrong or He-Man.....LOL! And skip.....I agree with those before me......please pass on the GI Joe. Especially the one with the kung fu grip! LOL! JK hun!
Seriously......I think he did indeed hear this from someone else. Children are mini tape recorders. He doesn't own Barbie and Ken...does he? Even if he does, I highly doubt he knows what sexy means. If he did he'd have to agree with scotz........sexy can only go so far when one has no genitalia!
If you are bold enough to want to hear the answer......you could ask him what he thinks "sexy" means. But you'll never know till you ask. If you aren't so bold.......and you don't want to hear the answer from him, get your S/O to ask him. I'm so curious now I can't wait for the answer!
Good luck babe! Gotta go pee now! LMAO!

To answer a few questions...
Yes, we have lots of Barbies in the house, I have a daughter and they are hers.
When I asked him last night what sexy meant...he said it means they are "hot".... I said "what does that mean to you"...and he said "that means you want to kiss them"....I dropped it.
So then we were sitting down to our Monday night gross out, we always watch Fear Factor....So anyway it was all women last night with 6 Miss USA girls on there...and he says "I wish they had boys on, I dont like it when it is just girls"
Just to let everyone know, none of this really bothers me. He has always been kind of like this from about 3 years old on. I have just never seen it so blatant. Oh well take what you get.

He's looking at role models, not sexual partners.

I can remember my oldest, when asked who he wanted to marry when he got older (he was 5 or 6), replied without hesitation, "Scotty" (his best friend......looking back it makes perfect sense). And Scotty's mom was not amused but I knew that boys at 5 and 6 would rather spend time with men and boys. Like Oldfart said, they are learning to be boys. They may try on "feminine" behaviors and traits to see how it all feels. It's wonderful you don't get all warped about it.
In my 3 year old classroom one year 5 out of my 8 dads were on the local SWAT team. I loved nothing more then to torment them with pics of their little boys dressed in tu-tus, hats, heels, and purses:p Some of them were so homophobic. I'm evil I know:D

ROFL I wish I could have seen their faces! My cousin is a redneck and when his little two-year-old started dressing up with mommy's pearls they thought it was cute for a while but my cousin put a stop to it when his son kept saying, "I am beautiful, aren't I, Daddy?" LOLOL

skipthisone at his age girls are not cool the ich factor as he gets
older may get interested in girls or not but ether way wil need suport from his family
by the way Barbies a stick and is not sexy
ken maby ok if he dumps the blond
:D
I wouldn't worry about it. I grew up playing with dolls at that age. I grew up pretty norm...
...second thought, maybe you should worry.
LOL
Honestly though, don't worry about your boy. Let him have fun now.. it's innocent.
Just be sure to get it on video tape for later years. He will laugh his ass off when he sees it at 30.

skip I wouldn't worry to much most 5 year old boys don't like girls that will change as he get older

I agree with Booger, I don't think a 5-year old's perspective on things sexual is much to think about. Fortunately, at this age, the Cartoon Network still has more influence then the genitals.
Now if he were 7. :D :D
On the other hand, if he'd said something about seeing a sheep with it's head caught between two fence posts and feeling a degree of excitement at the possibilities ... nah ... forget that stuff ... go back to the Cartoon Network. :D

The worst thing about it for me is he has a weirdo aunt who encourages him to be more a-sexual.
Steph

But she can't encourage him to find Ken sexy, ya know what I mean?
