my gf and i live in a one room apartment (like a dorm) and we have fish. so we go home a couple days for spring break and we come back with a parakeet. its name is Bird (oh the irony). anyway, does anyone else own parakeets? if you do, what is it like? i think itll be fun.

I used to have budgies when I was a kid.
The last one I had was when my own daughter was about 3yrs. He was a green bird called "Blue"------------her fav colour!!!!

had a parakeet that was double jointed they are just as smart as any other bird and if it's young enough it can even learn to talk and whistle songs....mine used to just hang on the outside of the cage and keep flipping itself over and over...of course my pets are all apparently psychotic...but hey *grins*

I had a parakeet and a cockatial I love birds I taught mine to sit on my shoulder, They also could talk. But that is if you want to train them or not.

LMAO @ PF!
The only bird I ever owned........*how do I put this nicely?*.......became a "non-parakeet". Yeah, that's it.....he musta been pining for the fields! Woke up one morning and started to remove the overnight cover....heard him squawk and then, there he was.....um........pining on the bottom of the cage. Sorry I can't be of more help!
Now, my cat would love for me to get a bird *cat sitting beside me as I type this and I do think he is grinning like a Cheshire*.
