View Full Version : Nascar????
I know this shows my "inner redneck" but are there any other NASCAR fans out there? With the season about to get underway, I was just curious? If so, who's your driver?

Just heard on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for those of you reading the Canadian thread right now) that NASCAR started as a race amonst rumrunners!
I just almost typed 'rimrunners!'
When Dale Earnhardt died, I paid attention to coverage out of curiousity. I'd never heard of him before but, boy, what a following he had!!! I still see people driving around Toronto with the number 'three' on their cars out of respect.
This poll should have had a 'no opinion' choice :)

As a native of NC, I also was a fan of King Richard. Then Dale Earnhardt, RIP3. Now, I remain a fan, but I guess I follow Little E as a default.
As an aspiring dirty old man, I really like to go to the races and watch all the drunk redneck grrls in the "Daisy Duke" jeans and string bikini tops.
Hot cars and Hot women. Who says being a redneck is bad???

I was a big Dale Earnhardt fan..............now Earnhardt Jr. is the man !!!!!

I'm going to sound like the young pup that I am, but I'm a huge Tony Stewart fan.
He has the bad ass boy image, i know. But simply put, the man can drive (and win) in damn near anything with wheels on it.
Enough said.

Who's your fav for the 2 twin 125's?
Irish
02-13-2003, 10:30 AM
Jeff Purvis&Mark Martin.My wife is a big fan!I used to race cars&
motorcycles. When you used to race,it takes the fun of watching out.You think what you would do in a similar situation.I personally
can't stand Jeff Gordon! He may have talent but I dislike him. Most
people think that they could do the same thing, but most people
would be scared "shitless"at 150MPH+. Irish
PS.You rely on the other person being good, because if he isn't,
you're hurting or dead!
CBass~ my fave to win the 125's were Michael Waltrip in the first and Dale Jr in the second...got 'em half right. Can't f'n wait till Saturday and Sunday!!!!

I never expected to spend time watching NASCAR and I don't really have a favorite driver. Except maybe Ward Burton. Love his attitude and love listening to him talk. But learning to watch and enjoy NASCAR was a trade off...my 'former, almost-daughter-in-law' taught us about NASCAR when she came from Kentucky and moved in with us, and we taught her the joys of HOCKEY!!!! :D:D:D

SS---You have at least one thing in common with my wife!
Everytime that Ward Burton is interviewed,I call my wife. She
loves listening to him also. One of the main reasons, that I like
his brother,is that altho many people don't know it,he has been
very instrumental in the development of different safety equipment! As a former and now older racer,I appreciate things
like that. Irish
P.S.I remember when ,even if something was broken,if you could
move it, you raced again.I have actually been picked up and set
on my bike(by my crew)when I had a cracked thigh,and couldn't
walk because of the pain.

Irish~ I used to work with a guy who was good friends with Jeff Purvis. Never got to meet him myself. As for Mark Martin...he's always been a favorite. I've got more Mark Martin merchandise than any other driver.
What did you guys think of the Coolerz 300 today? or did anybody watch? Jr, left 'em all sitting!!!

To me,the Daytona 500,was almost ruined by Mariah Carey(sp),
but then I have always disliked her!My wife would argue with me,
but I still think that John Travolta was cooler as Vinnie Barbarino!
For you young whippersnapers thats from "Welcome Back,Kotter"
days.Probably before you were born. Irish
P.S.My wife has vanity plates on her car. They say "Boogity."

Well, Irish, for once I agree with you. :D I think Mariah Carey was a lousy choice to have sing our National Anthem and the tribute song for the Columbia Crew. I don't think she's that great and she would have done much better if she didn't "over-sing" like she did. But then I don't care for her much in the first place.
Might as well have Madonna sing at the opening of the Baptist Convention... GEEZ! Where was Faith Hill when we needed her most?

SS---I've noticed before that at the bottom of your replies,
there is a thing about looking things up in the dictionary. When
I was in school,I remember asking teachers how to spell a certain
word. They would tell me to look it up in the dictionary.I would reply:How can I?I don't know how to spell it.That's like expecting
you to have experience in a job field. How do you get it if you don't
get hired?Unending questions, that don't have an awnser. Irish
Add me to the Mariah-Haters list.
Irish~I DO remember Kotter, Horshack was my fave. Anybody know the last time the Daytona 500 was cut short by rain? (Which I thought was total bull-shit.) I'm happy Mikey won, but I wasted a vacation day today..I wanted to see 500 miles!!

Eros---I saw Ron Pallillio(sp?)on a recent TV show.He was the
person that played Horshak(sp?)I think that he was doing plays
on Broadway, now. He fit that part perfectly.I'll never forget that
laugh. He was known for that noise. Irish
