Marine Corps General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio the other day by a female interviewer concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun control this is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of a National Public Radio (NPR) interview between the female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald as he was preparing to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL REINWALD: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended.

A point of interest! My father was a Conn. State Cop& an auxilliary
town cop!He told me,more than once, that anyone who depends on the police to protect them is living in a dream world! He said that with all of the calls, that they get, etc.,By the time that they get there, probaby, everything is already over. This isn't TV,it's real

Want to see something scary....take out two pieces of Gun Control Legislation and lay them side to side and see the comparisons...what two pieces are they....

The US Gun Control Act of 1968...with the Brady Amendments
&
The Nazi Gun Control Law of March 1938...

The wording is so close its frightening.

yeah, saw that one a while back... it's a pretty good story... but it's also just an Urban Legend (http://www.snopes.com/military/reinwald.htm).

At least it does point out that, in the end, people are the ones that are responsible for how they choose to behave!

Whew! I am relieved that it is an "Urban Legend"! I was jealous of the quick come-back!

Even legends have a basis somewhere.

Anyone know the true origin of the line?

Interested to know.
