Going to ask you all once again to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. This time, though, it's not for me, but for my wife and our oldest son.
My wife's been having a lot of back pain recently and our doctor decided to have an MRI done. Appears they dedected what they described as "narrowing and compressio" of two of her lower vertebrae and have scheduled a meeting for her with a neuro surgeon for a week from today. Until then, she's confined to nothing but bed rest. We suspect that he'll want to do surgery and probably fairly soon.
Then, our oldest son (36) told us that he's done something to his arm to the point he can't hardly use it. Doesn't want to go to the doctor, so has wrapped it in an Ace bandage and wants to "wait it out." Not a good decision, I don't think, but then, what do parents know?
I'm reminded of a line from the show, Fiddler on the Roof, "I know, God, that we're your chosen people, but just once in a while, couldn't you choose somebody else?" I'm beginning to wish He'd make a few selections other than from our family.
Anyway, if you have the time and are so inclined, maybe I can borrow a few more good wishes from you.
Thanks ... and hugs ... Dicksbro

*hugs*, thoughts and prayers to you and your family dicksbro. :(
Sorry to hear that you're having a few more life glitches....
Wife sounds like she's got her trouble pinpointed but that son of yours...yeah, I'd be worried too. My daughter sometimes avoids checking things out and she makes me crazy with concern.
Please hang in there and know you're all in my prayers hon.

DB---If your wife has work done,on her back, there are possible
bad repercussions! In 1970,I had the 5th disc up,removed at Yale
New Haven hospital.Every year they learn new things medically!
I occasionally get a pain down my left leg. This is over 20yrs later.
My current Dr.,sent me to a specialist. He took x-rays and it seems
that the problem is caused by the scar tissue pressing on the
physatic(sp)nerve. This gives me pain in my leg&foot. He said that he could remove it but in a few yrs.,I would have the same problem with new scar tissue.Look into it good.Every plus has its
minus. As far as your son, just hope he comes to his senses. We
both know that a son or daughter isn't going to listen to their
parent!Good Luck! Irish

Thoughts/prayers/well wishes/positive vibes being sent your way, brother-man.
I'm not quite ready to raise a fuss about your son not going to the doctor yet... although it may indeed be best.
Hopefully time and rest will help both your wife and son.

Last year.......just about this time as well (New Years Day....to be exact)......our luck, for the time, ran out! I hope this makes sense.......I hardly explain my inner thought very well.
I kept thinking......it's been a good three years and we have had such a wonderful time of it for a good long while. Things were going "too well" and I just knew that "the other shoe would drop" soon. I just didn't know when or how!
Sparing you the details..........the shoe dropped for us On New Years Day 2002. I am talking major stuff..........and it seemed to last for forever.......least ways.....till just this past November.
What I am saying db........is.........I know and feel your pain sweety! I don't know when the bad will get good again for you. Just know........it WILL! There are no downs without ups........there are no outs without ins.....there are no no's without yes's!
And with trial and tribulation............comes strength and confidence. The strength to go on and overcome.........and the confidence to know that better days are ahead!
My thoughts and love are with you and your family.....as I hope you know from previous conversations!

Just saying thanks seems so inadequate, but believe me, it really helps knowing that others are offering their support. I think in times of stress, it's sometimes the key ingredient in helping us get by. I was sharing your good wishes with my wife and she was really moved by the generosity and love that you've all shown. So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. I will be sure to let you know what the surgeon says next Thursday and how everything works out. Hugs.

Sorry to hear about the turn of events BRO.............I hope the Best for you and Your family. Things will work out for the best.................you'll see. Take care of your Mate and tell your boy to be careful................it could be serious or it could be Minor but that's for a professional to decide. Bless You My Friend.

Hi Dicksbro....You and your wife are in my prayers. I too have a bad back so I know how tough it can get for your wife. She is a very lucky woman to have such a caring man like you by her side. You are in my prayers and I wish you both well. Keep us posted.

We did see the doctor yesterday and he showed us the pictures from the MRI that was done on my wife's back. Looks like surgery may be necessary but he wants to talk to a partner in the office who specializes in this and then get back with us today or Monday. In any case, he told us that the surgery is not especially risky (all surgery has some risk) and that generally the patient is released the next day. (How do you spell relief?)
In any case, your good thoughts and prayers are obviously working and again we thank you with all our hearts. When we hear from the specialist or know anything further, will let you all know.
Hugs!
