Naked daredevil keeps his kit on to star in advert
SERIAL streaker Mark Roberts yesterday began to cash in on the notoriety he has achieved from his nude antics.
After chalking up 150 streaks, Roberts, 37, has been signed up to keep his clothes on - while everybody else strips off.
He was the only one wrapped up in Athletic Bilbao's stadium for a stunt to promote a new Spanish clothes range.
He was picked by an advertising agency after they saw him streak across the pitch at Hampden last May during the Champions League Final, when Real Madrid won the title for the ninth time.
The agency billed him as the "Glasgow streaker" as they launched their new range of sports gear.
Guillermo Viglione, creative director of the company, dimension, said: "We've been working on this campaign for eight months.
"It was Mark's streak at the final that gave us the idea. What better example of exhibitionism in football than a streaker?"
He added that Roberts, who now has his own website and likes to call himself a professional streaker, was delighted with the idea.
The advert will be used with the campaign slogan: Exhibite - Show yourself off.
For yesterday's photoshoot, Roberts strutted about in a track suit and Bilbao shirt.
All the others on the pitch were starkers, except for boots. Even two men dressed as British bobbies were naked apart from their police helmets and truncheons strapped round their waists.
Athletic Bilbao are one of the giants of La Liga.
They have won the title eight times and the Spanish Cup 23 times.
They were formed by shipyard workers from Sunderland, from whom they copied their red and white striped shirts.
Roberts, from Liverpool, has struck at the Wimbledon finals, the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, the Rugby World Cup, the Grand National and the FA Cup Final.
He also jumped naked on to the floating weather map of Britain during the television show This Morning in 1995.
Roberts' website seeks sponsorship for trainers, the only thing he wears when he streaks.
