Our 6 yr old grand daughter just arrived to spend the day with us...and on her way in the door, she forcefully announces

"I am NO LONGER K******!!!

I am Maria! I'm changing my name to Maria for a whole week! My daddy said I can!!!"

Seems she has watched The Sound Of Music nonstop for the past week (since we saw her last) and she's memorized all the songs and much of the speaking parts. :D :p

And Maria really IS a lovely name, don't you think? LOL LOL

Did you ever change your name to something else as a child?
I wanted people to call me "Toenail" at one point of my twisted childhood life...ROTFLMAO

p.s. she seems to be REFUSING to answer to her own name right now. this is making me soak myself with laugh tears. :D :D :D

I wanted to call myself "Francie" for a long time when I was about 6 .... thought my real name was boring ... still do ... just not enamored with any other name to this point. .... one of my nieces when she was about 3 until she was about 5 would not let us call her anything but Mike ... kept telling us she was NOT a girl ..... she's a grown up now with 2 kids of her own and very much a girl ..... but back then ..... you had to watch every word carefully around her. LOL!!

Mike! ROTFLMAO

How cute is THAT????? *choking on my coffee here*

And yeah....I've called my child shithead on more than a few occasions..but not usually to her face. :p

p.s. K****** has decided to postpone her name change until TOMORROW. She told us she felt like she was under too much "pressure" to handle it today.

*I am ROARING with laughter at almost everything she says these days* :D :D :D

Never liked my name as a child! I wanted to be called Heather........no one would ever call me that! Waaaaa!!!!

I know a girl who called her son "Broken Rubber". "What is it Broken Rubber?" "Say excuse me first, Broken Rubber!" LMAO! I said, "OMG Kris..........when he goes to school and the teacher asks if the children have a nickname they prefer to be called by, little Jimmy will answer "My mom calls me Broken Rubber!" She instantly stopped calling him that!

During my tomboy phase Toni then I wanted to be named after a different Uncle ( I am named after one). Uncle Stephen.........Stephanie just sounded so girlie and I thought if my name was beautiful I would be too.

Tell Maria I said, " So long, farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, good night";):p

I was called Skip as a kid along with skippy skippy peanut butter

All I wanted is to be called by my real name.

On a simular subject my 16 year old son wanted us to name our 2 year old Timmy when he was born. Said he would teach him everything he knows if we didn't. We didn't ,well that is coming back on us now . He has taught him to call his sister and mom a bitch, and me and my 17 year old an ass. He knows what they mean and uses them at apropiate times. I know I should not laugh but it's real hard not to.

His first real sentence came out a month ago when the 16 year old called him a bitch he said ME NO BITCH, ASS

He also taught him to say his name if u ask him whos your master

I never had much of an issue with my name... my father didn't allow anyone to call me anything but Jennifer.. with the exception of my grandmother who calls me Jennie. As I entered adulthood, friends began calling me Jen and that is okay...

All of that changed tho after my divorce. My journey has been a big one.. and the more I discovered about myself... the more "Jennifer" didn't seem to fit anymore. I became fond of Jenna and began using it first.. online... and then when I graduated College and began my career I made a decision to use Jenna in my professional life... In my job, (especially due to where I live), I felt more comfortable changing my name so that those that I work with (clients, dead-beats, etc) wouldn't be able to connect the dots if they met me in person within the community.

My friends and family continue to call me Jennifer or Jen... but those that have gotten to know me since my career has began are calling me Jenna... and I like it. :)

I LOVE this grandchild of mine!!!
But she really has to work on the difference between intent and method.
