Unhappy Transitions - Arthur C Clarke

The British science fiction writer Sir Arthur C Clarke died today in Sri Lanka. He was 90.

He came to fame in 1968 when his short story "The Sentinel" was made into the film "2001: A Space Odyssey" by director Stanley Kubrick.

He was one of Science Fiction's great writers.

R.I.P sir.

Sir Arthur was one of the scientist authors who wrote science fiction, not fantasy.

Sadly the genre is now filled with talking dragons, sword and sorcery and re-hashes of Star Wars.

Clarke, Asimov and Henlein, irreplaceable.

"The City & The Stars"

Still as rivetting (and relevant) today.

The Deep Range was another.

His obituary stated that he was "still hoping to find signs of intelligent life beyond earth"

Shit, I'm hoping to find signs of intelligent life on earth.
