Transitions - Arthur C Clarke
The British science fiction writer Sir Arthur C Clarke died today in Sri Lanka. He was 90.
He came to fame in 1968 when his short story "The Sentinel" was made into the film "2001: A Space Odyssey" by director Stanley Kubrick. He was one of Science Fiction's great writers. R.I.P sir. |

Sir Arthur was one of the scientist authors who wrote science fiction, not fantasy.
Sadly the genre is now filled with talking dragons, sword and sorcery and re-hashes of Star Wars. Clarke, Asimov and Henlein, irreplaceable. |
Last of the old guard, RIP.
Read "The City & The Stars" back in HS, left a lasting impact on me... |
"The City & The Stars"
Still as rivetting (and relevant) today. The Deep Range was another. |

His obituary stated that he was "still hoping to find signs of intelligent life beyond earth"
Shit, I'm hoping to find signs of intelligent life on earth. |
