Wisdom tooth post-op ????
Hey, does anybody happen to know if it's really bad if a blood clot comes out of the site of a removed wisdom tooth 6 days after the operation? Just happened to me as I was rinsing my mouth out.
Is my oral surgeon gonna be pissed at me tomorrow? :yikes: Thanks. |
It is only natural to lose a clot. Just be extra careful when eating and making sure you get all the food bits out when you rinse.
|
If it's not bleeding now I wouldn't be too concerned. I'd read the 'clot' as a scab that formed in a constantly moist location, and if so, is SHOULD be gone. How does it feel? I'd just watch for anything that looks different and if it isn't bothering you, save the $.25 call and the $25.00 consultation.

See! ^^^ You even got it from somebody that knows something. ;)

Well, this is really the first time I've had any pain at all since it was done last Friday other than my jaw being a bit stiff. (Oh man, I'm gonna wish I hadn't just typed that.)
It's not bleeding though. Hmmmm, I do believe I need to have some Pixie ladies come check it out for me to make sure. PF, if you'd like we can set up a free panty inspection clinic here as you come into my house. You are more than welcome to set up shop here. I'm sure the ladies would feel much better about things were they to receive a proper inspection once they arrive here. :D Oh, and thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated. |
I never had clots.
Do you think oyur dissolving stitches finally gave way and this was released? Since you have the appointment tomorrow, I suspect you shouldn't panic too much |
Hmmmm 6 days hmmmmmmmmm.
|
If you had something awful like dry sockets you'd know it already.

I'm sure it's fine, and tend towards what PF said....just a 'scab' in the mouth that means it's healing well.
I lost a small clot after childbirth (not from my mouth obviously) and I panicked like mad until I showed it to my midwife (she asked me to 'save' it for her - eewwww) and she just went 'Oh no, don't worry about that....if it was the size of a 50p piece or bigger, then I'd be concerned' |
Thanks everybody. I sure do appreciate all the help.
You'd think that with all of the different crap I've been through in my life with doctors and such that I would have some sort of clue about this but nope. Never even had a cavity before so I'd never even been given a shot in my mouth before last Friday. Now I guess I can say that I've really lived huh? :p Thanks again for all of your help, it really is appreciated. |
It certainly didn't pose any problems for me when I swallowed mine while eating a soft-boiled egg. And no, the site didn't noticably bleed afterwords, either. If it does, then yes, you should be concerned, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

Had my follow-up appointment with the oral surgeon on Friday and everything was looking fine I guess. Was actually only there in the chair for maybe 4 min.
Oh........ and there was no charge. :faint: |

Well, there really shouldn't have been, considering that it was really part of the previous proceedure. Glad things went well otherwise in addition, you deserve to have something go right in your life. |

Thanks gg, I appreciate that. Things are going ok, could always be better I suppose but I'm hangin' in there. |
