Not to "get something," but one time my friends and I walked home from school (in Baltimore) in the pouring rain instead of taking the bus. I was soaked but told my more that was from walking from the bus stop.

I fretted about it (and knew she knew better), so went back out and told her I fibbed to her and that I was sorry.

Wow, hadn't thought about that in years! I must have been about 8 years old and I'm 60 now. :(
