Pixies Civil Defense
Mother Day Tornado
While I do not have any Pixies that have asked to be listed on our Pixie Maps, we know we have quite a few regular members in the state and area. Already this year has been particularly active with twisters all over the USA and not limited to traditional Tornado Alley. I will be watching closely for the Pixies I know in these areas to be checking in with us and hoping they have all been spared. :wish: |
I have to say I found it entirely ironic that just yesterday (Saturday) msnbc.com had up a feature story about this town and how the lead levels from mining days were dangerous and people had been (and are still being?) offered buyouts to move from the area. I believe they were having a town birthday celebration this weekend - but oddly that's not mentioned in any of the tornado coverage.

It looks like the beginning of a bad season.

A clear-cut example of how a natural disaster can be compounded by a human disaster. "Paranoia: it's not just for psychopaths anymore!" |
It's only paranoia if they're not out to get you. Recent talk of UN intervention in
this mess has only proven to the junta that the West wants to interfere. |
True, even paranoids have real enemies, but these guys are building a new artform that would even boggle Adolf's mind.

That ^^^ seems to be going around in high places, doesn't it?

After a pretty rough night weather-wise all is fine here at the IowaMan household. We were very lucky here in my little town, there apparently was a tornado hovering above but I don't believe it touched down.
The sirens started going off here at 11:20pm and on tv they were saying that a tornado had been spotted about 30 miles to the west of here and according to their computers should be in my town at 11:47pm. Judging by the sounds I was hearing while in the basement, I believe they were right on target with that assessment. Anyway, the only damage here seems to be the flattening of a newly planted flower bed from the wind, rain and hail. Oh, and three very freaked out adult cats that won't leave my side this morning. |
Any Pixies in the path of Hurricane Ike?
I spoke with Shadozfire last night and she has relocated for the storm. Hopefully everybody makes it through ok. :wish: |
Glad to hear that. ^^^
