While in the Navy, i went around the world, naples, hong kong , singapore, ,,djabouti africa,, and i guess the place i'd like to take my wife would be HAWAII. She's lived in Georgia and Iowa all her life and has never been on a real vacation. So i'd like to take her there and show her the sites i remember from being based there.:)

mindboxer505---I'm just curious.Years ago;my brother-in-law got
stationed;in Hawaii. He took his wife and young son.(my wifes
youngest sister.)After a few months his family came back home
because the cost of supporting a family was so high there. You said that you were based there.I was just wondering if it was still
so expensive to live there. Irish
P.S.This was around 196?-197?.

I was on a ship based in Pearl Harbor(USS BREWTON FFG-1086). So i never had to get an apartment or anything. However one of my lady friends rented a room bearly big enough for her queensize bed and a dresser and tv for five hundred a month. she shared the rest of the house with two other people. This was at the end of my 2nd four year term, from 1989-1991 during the Gulf war. A shipmate from another ship had a hell of a time getting base housing for him and his wife and her boy.
the thing i remember the most was being on Waikiki beach and a ten minute rain shower would hit. the tourist would scrambled for shelter, but those that knew better would just wait it out. Ialso will never forget my first time at North shore..... I've done some things that could be considered dangerous to ya health, but those boys and girls HAD to be insane to try out some of those waves.

I'd stay right where I am. Paradise would be too uneventful, too boring for me.

Paradise is a wonderful place where every desire,
carnal and mental are satisfied without the loss of
the novelty. Palm trees and crystal waters optional.

Smiggenholes!!!
Not having ever been anywhere more tropical than Florida, I would have to choose somewhere like St. Croix or St. Thomas.
I would want a long stretch of beach just to me and my wife. Me and Mrs. Fang could romp naked on the beach, swim in the surf, sip tropical drinks, and get stoned watching the sun set on the ocean.
Damn, I need to save up for a vacation...

I can almost smell the sun tan lotion and taste the salt water from the ocean spray crashing off the rocks. There is a double (or maybe more fun would be a single :) )sized hammock where I just relax, swaying gently. I can hear the sounds of people laughing and music playing far off in the distance. Sipping Mai Tais, Daquiris, Bahama Mamas, Pina Coladas or whatever he brings to me. No cars, no kids, no phones, no worries, no rules. Just me and him in a hammock..............................Paradise.

I've traveled alot as I was in a band after HS, before college, and also in the Navy.
So I've seen alot of Europe, and the Middle East, man there is alot of sand there. I also got to go to the Virgin Islands etc for training exercises, but I never got to go on a WEST-PAC as I was stationed in Norfolk. (side note here, I've been to the Boathouse for concerts)
I'd have to say I'd love to go to Austrailia, and if I could swing it, have a 3 day stop over in Hawaii, if for no other reason than to visit Perl Harbor and see the USS Arizona Memorial.
Thanks for what you did Shipmates!!

Ophelia - Oz just wouldn't be Oz without the great Aussie salute :D
Note: Aussie Salute - the waving of the hand to chase away flies that continuously and annoyingly buzz around your face

Sharni---I'm not from N.H.;but live there now.My wife is from here.
Every year;in the spring;they have what is called"Black Fly season."It usually lasts for about 2wks.They are annoying as hell;
especialy;if you have your hands full and can't slap them without
knocking yourself out. They get in your eyes,go up your nose, get in your ears, etc.I imagine thats like what you have there. Irish

Hiking in Yellowstone for 1 week, and then maybe onto somewhere resort-like for some golf and sun. Maybe San Diego? Or Phoenix? (although IMHO I prefer golf in Phoenix in the winter)
I never answered this?!
Oh... well you know by now anyway. :)

I'm sure I've answered this before, but too lazy to go see what I said. This go round I'd like ... a week at an all inclusive beach resort... but not the typical large commercial resorts, a small private one, where I'm one of only a few guests and I can have all access to the beach, pool, hottub without ever having to deal with a crowd of people. A bit of peaceful tranquility with a fruity drink or glass of wine and great food.

Somewhere romantic with beautiful scenery and beautiful balcony to sit on watching the sunset and the stars at night time. Somewhere that we can be spontaneous and give into everything we want and need from one another.
It doesn't even have to be fancy, just relaxing.
