This will show my age but anything from Air Supply or Chicago may do the trick for you. They both have alot of slow songs. Add candle light and music and you got one hell of a romantic evening!!

sorry, i don't listen to soft romantic music but i bet if you searched for a list of the top wedding songs, you'd find some good ones, that's the only time i had to hunt for romantic music, that's the only idea i came up with..good luck.

Both send chills up my back, just different ones!
(rockhard- going to show your age…………HUH!

OK kid… you asked for it. MUSIC…a big part of my life.

First I think music is as much a subconscious experience as the listening part is an acoustical happening. Everyone has their “oldies” (warm and fuzzy…just a general happy feeling) that wasn’t even one of their favorites. It was just part of the background when we were growing up and becoming our own person. You might enjoy most music but for one it’s the 70’s music “that was really good”, for another the 50’s or 80’s that is a special set of sounds. That’s why one tune snaps a personal memory vision into our head as vivid as a photo. It’s different for each of us. (there is a point to all this) Your vision of Christmas might be of the lights and the pretty wrapping and excited kids. Subconsciously there are smells of pine needles and tangerines. The background part. On New Years, stinky sauerkraut cooking (if you had a German grandmother) and whisky in the air. (if you had an IRISH father)

So now you’ve got that part.

Now a little like sex. All nice but when you share it with someone, you both have something common (and personal) in the background. Any music playing during a love session that is part of shared pleasant experiences for both is going to winner for you. If you’re with that person, go through the scrap book and box of snap shots, then immediately check out list of tunes from that time or place. You’ll find “your” love music. Start your new set if you don’t have that shared person. It’ right behind you! Like the water closing behind the ship as you move forward. Depends on how long you’ve been underway and the course you’ve sailed.

PS some favorites of mine-

BODY + SOUL series from Time Life
FAITHFULLY by Nat Cole (old stuff)
RHYTHM OF LOVE by Anita Baker

I didn't see it mentioned here.It had personal meaning anyway!
The one that my wife always liked because;she said;that it
reminded her of me when we were parking was;"Slow Hands."
Irish
PS.It had sentimental value; to her;because I used to keep her on
the edge and drive her nuts.Sometimes-She couldn't take it and
finished herself.I should have tied her but I enjoyed watching her.

I myself go for the sounds of Celtic and Drumming from around the world. But I would have to ad to the list with anything from Meat Loaf. He has done quite a few good love songs.

Irish - was it "Slow Hand" by the Pointer Sisters? chorus says "I wanna man with a Slow Hand"?
Ok, paging the Music Perfessor... ahem... music for loving, my personal favorites, may I reccomend:
On Every street & Fade to Black - Dire Straights
Aja & Babylon Sisters - Steely Dan (almost anything by them)
Wifey likes her Michael Boltin & Kenny G cds - I can take it!
Lots more I could name here, but to really set the mood, ya gotta start with Jimmy Buffett's "Why Don't We Get Drunk (and Screw)"

Diva - one thing I have to point out is that "When a Man Loves a Woman," at least the original, is by Percy Sledge - I suppose you may have found a version by Otis, it's been covered by many; An additional suggestion, by Otis Redding, would be "Try a Little Tenderness" (Otis at his best, IMO). Also "Ooh Baby Baby", the Smokey Robinson version, not the Linda Ronstadt version with all the jism drained out.:p

Ok, I'm seeing blues, jazz, rock, and lots of other more mainstream stuff... But personally, the stuff that really sets me aflame is Latin jazz.

The best of the crop is Cesaria Evora, from Cape Verde --- she did 'Besame Mucho' on the Great Expectations soundtrack, you may have heard her there. Deep, smoky, incredibly rich voice, and such a fabulous sense of rhythm! Anything by her is a definite winner. You could also try Elza Soares (I think she's from Brazil), or Lhasa (Spanish-Canadian, I believe). For a male voice, try Zeca Pagodinho (Brazil again).

And then, of course, there's the whole Cuban son phenomenon, made so famous by the Buena Vista Social Club gang. Anyone from that ensemble is fantastic --- many of them have their own spin-off CD's that have been released since. The Afro-Cuban Allstars are great too, with some of the same musicians...

If you prefer things a little wilder, or a little younger, you can always go with the Ricky Martins and Elvis Crespos, but strange as it seems, I actually think the older musicians' stuff is much sexier!

BTW, this is definitely music for love-making, not mad race-you-to-the-finish sex --- it's slow and spicy, with great rhythms for dancing and teasing to! :o

--- sweetstuff

p.s. I think you're going to have to start selling copies of that CD/those CDs of yours on Pixies --- there are lots of us here that I'm sure would love to have in on that compilation! :D
