Hearing the word "dude" used to drive me crazy! Then my roommate started using it and now I'm hooked.

Well its really more like three words but I catch myself saying "and what not" too much.

Don't call me dude ~ Scatterbrain

Here's my story, sad but true
About a girl that I once knew.
She broke my heart, I became unglued,
It all started when she called me dude

Well today I leave the psycho ward
Cause my sentence did conclude:
I had killed a man with my bare hands
Because he called me dude

The jury said that I was insane.
Temporally insane - brain strain.
But now the doctors say I'm A.O.K.
So I start my new life today.

This story starts some years ago
As I vacationed by the sea.
In the California sunshine
Just me & my baby.

I was in love feeling sky high
When a big blonde lifeguard walked by.
He looked at her, she looked at him -
I knew it was good bye.

He took her by the hand, kicked sand in my face.
She looked & laughed & said, "Later Dude!"
They were gone without a trace
And the waves echoed her laughter
And her words...Yo Later Dude.

Later that night I was in such a bad mood
Sittin' in a bar drinkin' hard, getting stewed
Thinkin' 'bout that girl & how 'bout I'd been screwed
When some guy walks in sits next to me & says
What's up dude!

I heard the word dude & I became unglued.
Slowly I turned, step by step, inch by inch
And put my hands around his neck, and I squeezed...

DON'T CALL ME DUDE!

So that's how I got where I am
But this ain't where it ends.
The doctors said they cured me
I said good bye to my crazy friends.

I was smiling as i left that place
My life had been renewed.
The guard at the gate, he stamped my pass
And he said, "Yo Later Dude!"

Slowly I turned...

You'd be surprised to find out just how often I catch myself saying....

SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALADOCIOUS

I know...I know! It gets annoying to me after a while too!

My baby sis drives me bonkers with "ya know what I mean". It's gotten to a point of obsession for her. I don't know how to break her of it because it's been too many years now. I was thinking of starting to say, "I know what you mean", as soon as I realize she's at/nearing the end of her statement/sentence/conversation, but I hate when she gets pissed off at me. LOL!

BTW...I babble on so much I don't have a clue if I say anything annoying. I just asked hubby and he said that I didn't...so there ya go!

Oh... and BTW again...SUPERPIPE calls my hubby "dude" all the time and when he writes us an email or sends a card or leaves a note on our backdoor, he writes, Dude, [contents of writings] See ya, (and signs it) Dude

Yep...he calls hubby dude AND himself too! LOL!

P.S. In typing...I do get carried away with exclaimation points and dots........!!!!!!!

OMG! I know this isn't exactly the topic (surprised I realize it...aren't ya?) but I HATE listening to a rapper like Snoop (or whoever) and they have to preface or finish a sentence with...

""know what I'm saying"

PHEW! Had to get that off my chest! TY for listening!......(<---*giggles at all the exclaimation points*)

I was NEVER allowed to use "you know" as verbal punctuation ( as my Papa the Enlish Lit Professor called it) while at home. But I have other bad speech habits.
The worse is probably "Oh my!"
Next would have to be "Oh really?"
And finally, "Do you rally think so?" all delivered with a certain amount of sarcasm.
My other verbal sins are "Yikes!" and "Shitski!" both meaning the same thing. I just use one or the other depending on who is listening.

There are other things I say to overuse, but they are more... well, they don't occur other than in private, (usually)

WW

So I never really used the word Dude before... Then my freshman year of college my room mate used to dude everyone. He'd be all like "Dude" and I was like "Dude?" and then he was all about "DUDE!" Naturally then I was all "DUDE!" too! So, I guess I've been a dude guy ever since. Sorry, dudes...

Oh... and he also called his girlfriend dude. And dude, that is sooo wrong...

Sorry. Had a flashback to college there.

Anyway, I have to say that efficacy is a "beautiful thing." *chuckling*

*bump*

I knew there was a 'dude' thread somewhere! One of the many things I love about the new trash TV series "Boot Camp" is the zillion "dudes" per episode!

I still use 'dude' a lot even though I know some people hate it. I could call my ex 'bitch' or 'dude' and watch his blood pressure rise. :D

Thanks Steph...

I would love my phone to ring and hear Skip say Dude.. or Sexy... or Hey.. or anything at all...

Thanks for bumping this...

his threads and posts are the gifts that keep on giving... smiles.. giggles... happy thoughts....

I agree with ya jenna! Seeing a Skip thread gets my attention EVERY time! Don't need a phone call to hear his voice in the thread title...it's just there...in my head...in my memories.

Perfect words to say "his threads and posts are the gifts that keep on giving"! (((jenna)))

And BTW...Steph has called me "dude" many a time...lol! (((Steph)))
