dicksbro
09-16-2019, 03:08 AM

Lines designated driving lanes, crosswalks and parking spaces are freshly painted and that makes things look pretty nice overall. Only where there's construction does it look a little messy.
T or F: You haven't had to wear a jacket yet this fall.
gekkogecko
09-16-2019, 10:08 AM

T or F: There's no rest for the (you) weary.
dicksbro
09-29-2019, 01:36 AM
T even if you were hoping Kleclere would be the respondee. Seems like I've got more to do than ever and time to do it is scarce. Frustrating. :( Getting older doesn't help. :(
kleclere
09-30-2019, 12:38 PM
T or F: you are feeling old today.
gekkogecko
10-01-2019, 04:03 AM

gekkogecko
10-04-2019, 11:45 AM

dicksbro
10-05-2019, 11:24 PM
I did until mine wore out a few years ago and I've never replaced it. Actually, I think I have once or twice since then on my son's bike. So I guess that's a weak true.
T or F: You have a busy schedule for the next few weeks.
gekkogecko
10-06-2019, 03:47 PM
So freakin' true.
T or F:

T or F: You've never learned to handle a sail boat.
dicksbro

T or F: You've finished up all your fall outside work.
Goofy
10-23-2019, 09:05 PM

T or F:
You live near a (local, state, or regional) park.
dicksbro
10-24-2019, 10:54 PM
True … several as a matter-of-fact. Jubilee State Park just west of Peoria; McNaughten park near Pekin Illinois … a city park of maybe 2,000 acres … and within an hours drive south the 16,000 acre Panther Creek State Park. and several others not too far from us, but those are the big attractions. About 2 hours from us is one of our favorites, the Robert Allerton Park … a 50-room mansion sitting on a 5,000 acre estate donated to the University of Illinois by Robert Allerton whose father used to own the Chicago Stock Yards during the Civil War and several hundred thousand acres between Ohio and Illinois. His son's home was where he managed a lot of Illinois and Indiana land.
T or F: You enjoy stopping every now an then at markers posted along highways for things of interest (often local).
gekkogecko
10-25-2019, 06:12 AM

T or F:
You enjoy "adult" coloring books every now & then.

T or F: You're ready to skip winter and go straight to spring.
gekkogecko
10-28-2019, 12:22 PM
False. I like having a 4-season year.
T or F:
You're tempted to completely skip any and all gift-giving events for the remainder of the year.
dicksbro
10-29-2019, 03:18 AM
Tempting, but, it probably won't happen. Especially, Christmas. Although the past few years (the kids are grown now), the number of gifts has gone down and they tend to be more practical than the "toys of old."
T or F: You're expecting a warmer than usual winter.
Goofy
11-09-2019, 09:46 PM
T (I guess). Last couple years seem to suggest that. Kinda hope so, I don't do so very well in da' reel cold stuff.
T or F: You been to Disneyland or Disney World.
gekkogecko
11-10-2019, 08:27 AM
True.
T or F: You've seen snowflakes in your area already this season.
PantyFanatic
11-10-2019, 11:15 PM
Only snow FLAKES so far but have been told the next couple days will give us our first few inches for the season.
T or F: Like Goofy and me, you don't look forward to winter as you once did.
dicksbro
11-10-2019, 11:52 PM
TRUE
I think my disenchantment with snow began either when I started to drive or when I first shoveled the drive. :D Now if I could just sit in the house and watch the flakes come down with no need to go anywhere, my answer could be different. But, that's not likely and so SNOW SNOW GO AWAY COME AGAIN SOME OTHER DAY AND SOMEWHERE ELSE FAR AWAY :D
Hopefully, todays won't amount to much.
gekkogecko
11-11-2019, 11:00 AM
Hm, I'm going to interpret that as a T or F question, "Do you know people you hope, like the snow we're going to get, won't amount to much?"
True-though I won't name names.
T or F: You have too much laundry piled up, and are barely keeping up with the demand.
dicksbro
11-12-2019, 12:18 AM
True. Gotta get busy and clean up (pun intended) the surplus. :)
T or F: You're hoping for a warm up in the weather soon.
gekkogecko
11-12-2019, 04:59 AM
False. I'm pretty much indifferent.
PantyFanatic
11-12-2019, 11:35 PM
And I'll take that as a T or F question.
I pasted 'indifferent' a while back. It seems to be connected to longevity. I've gone from looking forward to the crisp-clean winter to play in :xmas:, to it's OK :), to indifference , to not so soon or so much , to enough of that crap .
T or F: You are about to polish off the last of the Halloween candy.
dicksbro
11-13-2019, 01:28 AM
And I'll take that as a T or F question.
I pasted 'indifferent' a while back. It seems to be connected to longevity. I've gone from looking forward to the crisp-clean winter to play in :xmas:, to it's OK :), to indifference , to not so soon or so much , to enough of that crap .
Ah, a short summary of LIFE. Well put, PF, well put. :boink:
T or F: You are about to polish off the last of the Halloween candy.
False … already completed that task. It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it. :)
T or F: You're looking forward to seeing family at Thanksgiving.
gekkogecko
11-13-2019, 05:05 AM
False. Most of the family that hasn't died off yet are whack jobs, and not in the happyfun way.
T or F: You rely on the services of a recent immigrant in some direct way.
dicksbro
11-14-2019, 12:44 AM
T … now sure if I rely on him for services, but he has certainly proven to be a good friend and his family is top notch.
T or F: You're tired of all the political crap going on and the divisions it's caused.
PantyFanatic
11-14-2019, 01:48 AM
True.
I'm passed tired and pasted pissed at ALL of them. I'm somewhere I never believed I could be. :boohoo: Ashamed of my government, NOT my country!
T or F: You also think the weather people over-did the end of the world forecast for our first winter shot.
gekkogecko
11-14-2019, 05:11 AM
Probably true, but as I paid little attention to the alarmist crap, I missed most of it.
T or F:
You find REM, Eeyore, and Nostradamas to be incurable optimists.
Goofy
11-16-2019, 08:25 AM
I dunno but yuz a pretty sharp fella so I say gotta be true. Shore hope I was rite.
T or F: I was yuz favorite Disney character.
gekkogecko
11-16-2019, 10:09 AM
False. Better'n Mickey Mouse, but I never really had a favorite Disney character.
T or F:
You like late November, because the grocery stores start stocking Egg Nog.
Goofy
11-19-2019, 12:36 AM
T I reckon. Usually only have a cup or two, but it shore do taste gud.
T or F: Yer gonna see da new Star Wars pixer show.
dicksbro
11-19-2019, 01:51 AM
T … at least we expect to. Probably will. I think we've seen all the Star Wars movies up until now.
T or F: You like to watch the history channel on cable.
gekkogecko
11-19-2019, 05:11 AM
False...don't have cable.
T or F: You enjoy Altoids mints.
dicksbro
11-20-2019, 01:22 AM
T … they are refreshing.
T or F: You wonder what ever happened to some of those that used to be regulars at Pixies. :(
PantyFanatic
11-22-2019, 12:22 AM
True :o Starting with myself. Personally, Pixies has been a very real and important part of my life and still is in spit of my lack of posting the last few months. I will often peek in, read the few faithful post, not adding anything except the additional low posting status. Kind of a self perpetuating syndrome. :spin: I can honestly say I have no days that someone of the people I've actually met and many I've only come to know on line here are not real thoughts in my mind. Things are changing for me right now but have often over the past eighteen years since I found my home here at Pixies. I hope some of the other Pixies regulars come back and become more active also.
(I bet that was WAY more than you wanted in this thread :roflmao:
T or F: Do you recall when you would find three pages of new posts every day? :D
dicksbro
11-22-2019, 02:49 AM
True. I do remember those days. Used to be a wild place … sometimes almost too much … could hardly get a post in on some threads.
T or F: You still love Pixies-Place but wish more would post.
gekkogecko
11-22-2019, 10:09 AM
True, almost axiomatic.
T or F:
There's some 'winter' activity you've always wanted to do, but still haven't.
dicksbro
11-23-2019, 03:46 AM
True. I've often thought it'd be fun to visit a ski resort in Colorado or someplace … not to go skiing but to enjoy the winter scenery, take some pictures, and be with my wife on a nice get-a-way.
T or F: You've never had rabbit stew.
gekkogecko
11-23-2019, 10:40 AM
I honestly can't remember. Knee-jerk says true, but the back of my mind says maybe with some Chinese friends for New Year.
T or F:
You house needs specialized lighting somewhere, other than for holidays.
PantyFanatic
11-24-2019, 02:48 AM
False~ A major advantage of down-scaling five years ago gave me the VERY non-regretted chance to install all LED everywhere except the attached garage where I installed 8' fluorescents. Even have a couple outdoor solar night lights.
T or F:
You decorate outside extensively for the Holidays.
dicksbro
11-24-2019, 03:29 AM
False. I used to (depending on how you define extensively) but haven't for the past few years. I got one of those "projection" lights and use it now. Not bad, but not as festive as it used to look.
T or F: You love Pekin Duck?
gekkogecko
11-24-2019, 10:07 AM
Hm, not where to stand on this one.
I certainly like it, don't turn it down when its offered. But I usually go for more spicy foods.
T or F:
The change of seasons presents no problems for you personally.
dicksbro
11-25-2019, 12:29 AM
T (so far). Only heavy snows, bitter sub-zero temps, icy roads and sidewalks turn me off anymore. Haven't had more than teasing samples of the snow and a few times temps in the teens. So far, so good.
T or F: You're hoping for an early spring. :wish:
gekkogecko
11-25-2019, 05:10 AM
False, I think an 'early' spring is only going to be one more sign of anthropogenic global warming.
T or F:
You have recently and unexpected run out of some paper product in your house.
dicksbro
11-26-2019, 12:48 AM
Almost true. Happened to notice the bathroom tissue was getting low, so got some yesterday. Not a good thing to run out of.
T or F: You love to hunt deer when it's in season.
gekkogecko
11-26-2019, 05:07 AM
False, never had the opportunity.
T or F: Despite owning several flashlights, they're never where you need them, when you need them.
dicksbro
11-27-2019, 01:33 AM
True - that does seem to be the case more often than not.
T or F: A watched pot …
… can give you a migraine.
gekkogecko
11-27-2019, 08:06 AM
False.
Though in my experience, a watched pot never boils.
I don't work in an iron foundry.
T or F:
Your time clock hours frequently don't match your payroll hours.
dicksbro
12-08-2019, 05:09 AM
False … not since I retired anyway.
T or F: You're ready for spring already.
gekkogecko
12-08-2019, 10:27 AM
False, too busy with lots of winter stuff to pay attention to spring yet.
T or F: Your living space is being overrun by empty delivery boxes.
Goofy
12-09-2019, 01:56 AM
T or kinda seems dat's da case sumtimes.
T or F: Yer a hopin' fer a white Christmas dis year.
gekkogecko
12-09-2019, 10:10 AM
False. I'm utterly indifferent.
T or F: You keep breaking and having to replace your hot beverage travel mugs.
dicksbro
12-10-2019, 02:21 AM
False, but sure as I say that … :(
T or F: The Ravens will go all the way this year!
gekkogecko
12-10-2019, 05:15 AM
Most likely true.
T or F:
You like hanging onto obsolete technology.
PantyFanatic
12-10-2019, 03:16 PM
True. :o As long as it still does the task intended in an acceptable way. In a manner we all have to. In today's world, as soon as we get technology it is obsolete.
( I was told "Do not be the first into a new technology NOR the last to leave". )
T or F: You find it hard to believe Christmas is just two weeks away.
dicksbro
12-10-2019, 05:11 PM
True … very true. Seems like every year the distance between Thanksgiving and Christmas shrinks. Except at the stores. They start Christmas right after Easter. :yikes:
T or F: You wish the world could return to simpler times.
gekkogecko
12-11-2019, 04:59 AM
True. The world was all so much simpler when we were all just single cells, and we could reproduce by fissioning, rather than all this messy (and chancy) sex to worry about.
T or F:
You find weather that other people find inclement, rather pleasant.
dicksbro
12-12-2019, 02:47 AM
Hmmm … going to say false … but it's a bit iffy. Sometimes I may say something like it's not too bad or sounds pretty good when, in fact, that's just relative to maybe a bitter cold snap just the day or days before.
T or F: You've leared to like the "O" colas rather than Diet or Regular.
gekkogecko
12-12-2019, 06:56 AM
False, not big on colas in the first place.
T or F: You haven't taken a long-distance railroad trip in years.
Goofy
12-13-2019, 02:10 AM
True. Ain't done one of dem fer a years and years. Be a fun thing to do I's think .
T or F: Yer havin' company at yer place dis Christmas I'm a thinkin.
gekkogecko
12-13-2019, 01:03 PM
True. Not necessarily looking forward to it, but yes.
T or F:
You have a work issue to resolve that was caused by idiot cow-orkers.
dicksbro
12-14-2019, 03:14 AM
F - although if I were still working … could be those COW-orkers would have caused issues. ;)
T or F: You're looking forward to Christmas with anxious anticipation.
gekkogecko
12-15-2019, 01:36 PM
False, it's usually more of a hassle than a joy.
T or F:
You would rather spend a vacation somewhere with a better climate than you home.
dicksbro
12-16-2019, 12:16 AM
Gotta admit with the colder weather and snow … it gets tempting to think of warmer spots to get through the winter months.
T or F: You've bought yourself a new warm winter coat for this winter.
gekkogecko
12-16-2019, 07:17 AM
False, the old is still quite serviceable.
T or F: You need to buy at least one piece of new furniture.
dicksbro
12-17-2019, 01:01 AM

T or F: You're pinning your NFL hopes on the Ravens! :)
gekkogecko
12-17-2019, 05:13 AM
False, I'm so meh on American football these days.
T or F:
What a long strange trip it's been.
PantyFanatic
12-17-2019, 12:29 PM
True, so very true. ;)
T or F?
Your station is coming into view.
gekkogecko
12-18-2019, 05:05 AM
False. I think the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train.
T or F:
You haven't been 'eating right' in the past couple of weeks.
dicksbro
12-19-2019, 02:16 AM
F … although the day before yesterday when I had a very upset stomach I didn't eat much of anything. Little chicken noodle soup was about all I could handle.
T or F: You'll be staying home for Christmas.
gekkogecko
12-19-2019, 04:59 AM
True: other people are coming to us.
T or F:
You're excited abotu recent...political developments.
PantyFanatic
12-20-2019, 02:19 AM
True if you find shame and disgust as 'exciting'. :banghead:
T or F:
You never thought you would live long enough to see the end of our government as we were taught.
gekkogecko
12-20-2019, 10:44 AM
Unsure how to answer that...I have always been cynical enough to realize that, even as I was being taught "how our government works" is not the way it has ever worked.
T or F:
Today has been a brightly sunny day for you.
dicksbro
12-21-2019, 12:27 AM
It was (Fri). And, while not warm, it was definitely better than normal for this time of the year. :) Plus, our snow is about gone except in areas that stay shaded. They'll be going over the next couple of days.s
T or F: You're hoping for a white Christmas.
gekkogecko
12-21-2019, 10:03 AM
False. I am indifferent.
T or F:
Your ability to drive in snow exceeds that of the general population in your area.
dicksbro
12-22-2019, 05:28 AM
True … at least I think so. Of course living in Minnesota part of my life gave me lots of practice.
Goofy
12-25-2019, 11:43 PM
Hee hee. No T or F for me to answer …
DAT'S True! Hardy Har!
Tru or False: Yer lookin' forward to da New Year I'm guessing.

Been a bit eratic, that's for sure. Nice temperature-wise yesterday but windy that kept it feeling a bit cool. This early morning it the upper 30s but with a high in the mid-50s. Then, by next weekend, they're predicting us to be back in the 70s. Haven't really seen a graph on how we're doing compared to historical trends, but either about even or a little below wouldn't surprise me. So I guess the best answer is … I dunno.
T or F: You remember the day you met your spouse if you're married.

True, although said spouse remembers the second time we met as the first...odd that.
T or F:
You own a small collection of specifically-themed beverage mugs.

True. Over the past few years I've been collecting coffee mugs from our local "Pumpkin Festival" held in the fall.
T or F: You've got special plans for Mother's Day.

True, but they don't involve anything having to do with motherhood. Other than making my wife breakfast this morning.
T or f:
The weather in your locality has been unseasonal: either way hotter or way colder than usual.

True or at least it seems that way. The temperatures up and down swings; the rain (probably not unseasonable) and the winds (my wife has commented that the last several years seem to have stronger winds that we remember from our youth. I kind of think so too.
T or F: You sill once in a while fly kites?

False, that sort of activity does a nasty number on my back.
T or F:
Looking out y our window, you can see several different kinds of trees, but you can't tell which one is which.

False. It's pretty dark right now. When it gets light, then I could.
T or F: You area is seeing a moderation in the number of COVID-19 cases recently.
gekkogecko
05-14-2020, 06:40 AM
Both true and false. The actual number of cases doesn't seem to be moderating, but the number of hospitalizations and deaths certainly has.
T or F:
Ug. Too long of an interruption tht I forgot the T/F dilemma I was going to post.
Um, maybe I'll ocme back to thsi later.

False, I hadn't forgot because I hadn't thought about it until now.
T or F: You and your spouse or SO have made good use of the time you've had together since COVID-19 has kept us home more.

True, but I am seriously missing time with my partners, other than my nesting partner.
T or F:
You are still relying on delivery mostly to get your necessities.
dicksbro

False - we have used some deliveries, but we've also gone shopping during "senior hours" especially since facemasks are required for most of the stores that are open. And, our town hasn't yet had any COVID-19 cases confirmed. Knock on wood.

Didn't give me no T or F thingy fer me to answer so I use da same as yuz db. Wez gone shoppin' sum with doz masks n' all. Asked one of dem checkout people how day cud tell who da bank robbin' folks were since everybody got demselvs masks. She laughed and says dat up above her pay level.
T or F: Yuz put on gloves n' mask if you shop?
dicksbro

Sometimes true, Goofy. Always put on the mask but not always the gloves. I do wash my hands a bunch during the day, though. Probably one symptom of COVID-19 should be dishpan hands.
Anywhow, you still on, Goofy?
T or F: You love being outdoors.

True for the most part. Often couldn't apply it, even before the pandemic.
T or F:
When driving through "fallen rock zones" you don't worry about the past tense...

True. I don't usually worry about it … although a couple of times I can remember, there were rocks that had "recently fallen" and were still by the side of the road. Probably sped up a bit to get past them. :)
